Cystectomy
Cystectomy is a surgical procedure done to remove a cyst. A cyst is a hollow area surrounded by tissue and filled with liquid, which can develop in both soft and bone tissues. It is therefore necessary to completely remove it in order for the process to be stopped. During its development a cyst causes bone destruction and many other complications.
The procedure is done under a local anaesthetic by incising and lifting the soft tissue and removing the bone in order to access the cyst and remove it using special instruments. After the procedure the bone can be regenerated with the help of artificial bone material. The procedure is finalized by stitching.
